<lj:music>"Pour Out A Little Liquor" - 2Pac</lj:music>

I haven't updated in a hot minute. Not that anyone is reading this madness anyway, but it's good for my own sanity.

Lots of shit has been happening, but at the same time, not much. I got a new car which is the biggest highlight in a long, long time. It's a 2006 Chevy Equinox LT, 28,000 miles, silver. A major upgrade from my old hoopty with much more space, better sound system, and just overall luxury.

Summer has been laid-back (translation: boring) so far. Everyone is working it seems... everyone except me that is. I've called a couple temp agencies, including the one I worked for last summer but they've been slow to get back to me. I need the cash like whoa, but I feel like I just won the lottery because I heard I'm getting my $200 back from this trainwreck. Even though it's my money, I'm still thrilled because I didn't think I would see that shit ever again. I may buy a new camera with it, I haven't decided.

I'm going down to LA sometime this week with Bob to look at places to live. Everywhere in West LA is expensive as shit! It's crazy because Erin was showing me listings of four bedrooms in Brooklyn for $600 less a month than the 2 bedrooms I've been looking at. I understand West LA is high class or whatever but damn! The worst part is, as you get farther away from campus, even just a few miles, the prices drop dramatically. I can't commute to class, though, because I'd have to buy a parking permit and that shit is $900 (I kid you not).

I saw a listing on Craigs for a place on Wilshire Blvd. (the main street of West LA) on the 11th story for only (LMAO "ONLY" IS RELATIVE) $1950 or something. Two bedrooms and two baths. Something must be wrong with this place. After you sign the lease they will probably be like "Oh yeah there's a hornet's colony in the toilet" or some shit.

I've lost 5 lbs. My family is in a competition to see who can lose the most weight -- excluding my little brother, whose job it is to gain weight (he's like 120 lbs. or something). I ran one of my old cross country routes today and LORD HAVE MERCY it was more difficult than I expected. We'll see how that goes.

I'm craving a big old Long Island Iced Tea or Tequila Sunrise right about now. It's been a minute since I was nice and drunk. I think it's time.

Four days 'til I'm half way through my college career. It's a trip for sure. I feel like I just graduated high school! It's a weird feeling getting older slowly but quickly at the same time.

I'm considering my first two years at UCLA as its own chapter which is now closing. Things are going to be a lot different next year (whether for good or bad) that I can't help but feel like I'm going to be starting something completely new.

My fake ID is still not here yet (!!!). I'm about to start whooping ass for real. I'm supposed to pick it up from some fool who goes to my school (LMAO! I know right?!) but it needs to make its way up from Palm Springs to here before I can do that. I'm pissed as hell because it has taken a month when it should have only taken two weeks or so.

I'm broke as hell and am about this close to joining the circus or some shit to make some coins. I'm trying to sell my mini-fridge before I leave not only for the cash but also because I don't think it will fit in the car. If you live in LA and happen to be reading this and need a nice mini-fridge, hit me up!

Lord JAYSUS get me through it! I'm drowning over here but I know it will be done in a flash. Bob is officially coming to UCLA next year and I'm 90% sure we're going to live together so we're gonna have to start looking for an apartment and such. Exciting stuff. What with living with Bob (off campus!!), having a new car, starting my new $9.77/hr job, I can't help but think...

But no. I don't want to jinx myself. I've done this in the past only to have myself knocked on my ass, so I'm just gonna keep quiet.

Was up 'til 6:30 last night writing a paper because I a) hadn't started the book b) hadn't formulated a thesis c) it was an open topic paper. I really need help with my procrastination, it's getting bad. On the other hand, I work well under pressure. I've been getting good grades on all my papers this quarter. My English 4 teacher handed back a paper on Wednesday and said I got a "B+/A-". Don't you hate that shit? It's either one or the other! I would be happy with either but obviously prefer the A-.

I worked out tonight. I found a mini-gym in the building across the way from mine that NO ONE uses. It's awesome! I had my iPod on and was getting my sweat on. Now if only I could get a TV in there.

LMAO someone put Carmen: A Hip Hopera on Youtube. Now it's flooded from somewhere (it could be the shower, either of the two sinks or -- UGH -- the toilet) and there is more water in our bathroom than Raging Waters. I swear I'm gonna have to build a canoe next time I wanna use something in there.

This happened yesterday in the midday, and, just like last time, maintenance has been called but has yet to show up. I would mop it up myself but I don't have a mop or enough towels to do it alone. Seriously if my camera wasn't broken I would take a picture to show you I'm not exaggerating. It's so gross.

I dunno if I'm gonna be able to make it 'til Thursday for real. I'm over here about to go crazy. I'm SICK of school.

I was seriously about to fall out.

He was trying to study and all these people kept bothering him for pictures and such. There was a group of tourist Japanese hipsters who would just NOT STOP. You know the kind. With the authentic Gucci bags screaming in Japanese and peeking over bushes, jumping over barbed fences and shit to get a picture. It was a hot ass mess.

At one point these girls came up to chat with the girl he was studying with and one of them was like "You look really familiar". VH1 what are you doing to me?

I'm broke as shit from this fake ID madness.
I'm getting my fake ID!! It was no easy task, let me tell you. I swear I felt like Zelda or some shit with all the fiery hoops I had to jump through to make this work. Peter called me last night and said that I had to get a passport picture, a copy of my license AND $200 and priority mail it to this dude by 11 am THIS MORNING. Needless to say, I did it and am now patiently waiting on its arrival (next couple weeks or so). For $200 this shit better have holograms, scan, explode into sparkles when I'm in a bad mood and rap the first verse of "Shoop". Whatever, it's worth it. There's no way I can go back home without an alcohol outlet, as sad as that sounds.

It has been hot as hell here the past couple of days and I was ready to give up walking to class. It cooled down some today which is good because I was feeling like I needed to start carrying around a fan like a church lady or dump a bottle of water over my head. The weather is really nice right now.

My camera is still broken and will be indefinitely--I think I need a new one. :( Yet another thing to add to the list of things I want that I can't afford. I need to start working like IMMEDIATELY upon getting back from school.

Sun God in one week! I'm ready to be sloppy. God I'm an alcoholic.

But 10 year-olds wilding out screaming "si se puede" while they jump the barrier of the 405 isn't doing anything but making all those bigots out there say "This is exactly why we don't want you people in our country." I just don't understand why we can't realize as people that this is not helping but hindering.

It's probably easy for me to say, even as a Latino, because I'm third generation and have never had to worry about anyone I love getting deported but honestly though.
Monday was magical because... I actually made it to my first class of the quarter even though it started at noon and I got back to campus at about 11:30 am.

Tuesday, what a tiring day, because... having two intense classes back to back paired with my first of three afternoon shifts this week made me realize I have to quit my job.

My Wednesday was wild & crazy because... Wednesday is actually kind of a blur. And not the fun kind. Sorry.

Thursday made me think about... quitting my job 100% for real. It also made me think about how fun random nights are (ritzy Beverly Hills dinner + five bottles of assorted wine/champagne = hilarity ensuing).

Friday is the most fun because of... fire alarm at 5 am (sarcasm), my radio show (not sarcasm), and officially tendering my resignation (holla!)

So I guess you can tell what the theme of the week is - no more heinous terrible awful job! I will miss the extra cash but in the big scheme of things it's not enough to endure working in that hell hole, especially since now more than ever I need to focus on upping my GPA. I'll be there at the very least for two more weeks and since I'm a nice person I offered to help during the "transitional period" if they need me but we'll see. I hope that's a NO.

I'm so exhausted from the week in general, but trying to go to bed last night still drunk, overcome with allergies and my neighbor and his friends being loud was quite the task. I felt like I had been asleep for a good 42 seconds before the screeching fire alarm woke me up at 5 fucking AM. Some douchebag pulled it.
1. If you had to choose being blind or deaf, what would you choose and why? Blind, although both suck. I couldn't live without music.
2. What is the best smell? Fresh laundry. Or maybe fresh sugar cookies or something.
3. Would you rather be hot or cold? Cold. Being hot sucks! I hate getting all sweaty and mess.
4. What's the worst feeling in the world? Knowing you hurt someone you care about and not being able to take it back.
5. Would you rather have something hurt or something be itchy? Hurt. Being itchy makes me homicidal.

I've come to the conclusion that I need a fake ID. I know my birthday is in December but I'll be damned if I spend the entire summer in SARATOGA without a means to get booze. Peter has a fake, but he'll be in Colorado most of the summer. My friend Ryan also has one but he's shifty as hell when it comes to that shit. So yeah, as soon as I have an expendable $150 (LOL how about never?) I know what it will be going toward.

Spring break has been cool so far. I bought some bomb ass shirts in San Francisco that I would show you but my camera is dead and I'm pretty sure I left the battery charger in LA. Went to a bonfire on Wednesday and got FUBAR (if you don't know this acronym, look it up. It's a gem). I miss Maxine and wish she was here but I'm sure she's having a blast in Italy.

I did pretty good this quarter grade-wise. I have no class or work on Friday this coming quarter but my radio show is at 10 am on Fridays, which throws a wrench in my plans to leave LA on Thursday nights to go home/where ever. Oh well.

So far my calendar of fun is as such:
Augustana concert/SD trip - April 14
Sun God/SD trip part dual - May 18

This will be peppered with trips home and probably a few other trips to San Diego again or maybe SLO. Should make the quarter go quickly, I hope.
I have one final left and I swear the apocalypse is going to come before I take it. Lmao I just cannot get over how long this week is dragging out.

And of course I've barely been studying. The weather is SO NICE and the campus is pretty empty and I'm just ready to GO. 10 days in the Bay are going to be amazing.

I'm missing my brothers' mom's funeral tomorrow because of the final too. I feel really really guilty about it but there's absolutely no way out of it. I got to see Ron last Saturday and he was doing OK, considering.

Does anyone know anything about webhosting? We're thinking of moving the blog to a self-hosted site so we can put up ads (cha-ching). Any help would be greatly appreciated, specifically pertaining to how much space is enough, etc. Thanks in advance.

I swear to everything holy if my computer tells me I have low disk space but ONE more time! I'm gonna holla holla holla. For real, though, it's bad enough my shit runs slower than Aretha on a cold day, but that little "POP" sound it makes when the message comes up is like nails on a chalkboard. I really need to invest in an external hard drive, 'cuz Lord knows I'm not touching any of the music I have on this baby.

It's almost time for finals/final papers. I've discovered that in my classes I'm either really really smart or everyone else is really really stupid. In any event, I'm playing the time management game, giving up A for B and vice versa because I've (as usual) waited too long to get started. Still, I would say that I'm in better shape preparedness-wise than I normally am at this point in the quarter.

I can't wait for spring break. I'm excited to see everyone--well, almost everyone (I'll miss you, Teeks! Have fun Italy!). It's definitely time for some R&R.

Next quarter looks nice. No class on Fridays and no class before 11 am or ending past 3 pm. I'm also planning at least two trips to San Diego and maybe a few home, as well. Hopefully it will FLY by and the summer will be here. Although I'm contemplating summer school... ugh.

All right, enough procrastinating, back to work.

So I was taking a shower at 12:45 thinking how great it was going to be to get 8 hours for once when I realized -- FUCK ME, I have to read and do a quote analysis for tomorrow. Well, here I am at 2:50 and I'm done but now I'm wide awake and since I'm going to be tired as shit in the morning anyway, I might as well update.

My (half) brothers' mom has three types of cancer (brain, spinal and breast) and is slowly slipping away. I've never been close to her and she's done her share of dramatic things to my family but in the past few years she's always been nice to me. At my aunt's funeral less than a year ago (also from cancer, God damn you), I witnessed she and my mom talking to each other. For like, the first time ever. It was nice.

And now the beast is back to claim her. Not only does she not deserve it (not that anyone does), but I am devastated for my brothers. Ron was unbelievably close to my Aunt Esther, and now less than a year later he's losing his mother? And Tom, well, Tom and Patty haven't had the best relationship (long story short, that's why Tom moved in with us when he was 15) and I'm sure there are lots of regrets going through his head right now that I can't even imagine. Never hold on to grudges with people you love, folks.

Meanwhile, we have this 80th birthday party thing coming up on Sunday for my grandma. She didn't want the party back in June but my Aunt Susie insisted. And now, of course, this timing I just KNOW is going to make the vibe incredibly dreary and miserable. I'm not looking forward to it, but on the bright side my parents and Stevie are coming down here so at least I will get to see them. I'm even going apartment hunting when my mom gets in on Friday. I'll keep you posted on that.

I've always thought of myself as relatively laid-back (most of you who know me in person, would agree, right? I hope) but a few years ago when I was going to a chiropractor, she always told me how I clenched my teeth a lot and was really tense all the time. I've started thinking about it a lot lately because in the early evenings and night times I've been getting really anxious for no reason. I don't know what it is--I'm sure part of it has to do with school, but I'm doing way better this quarter than I did last. I don't know what to think of it but I'm getting sick of that awful feeling of uncomfortableness that just settles in like "Oh hay, I'm here".

Also -- the light in the bathroom is still broken. It's almost been a week since I sent that request! I'm about to get ignorant on the university maintenance if it's not fixed soon.

My suite bathroom has evil karma.

I kid you not. In the past four days or so, weird/unpleasant things have been happening in the bathroom I share with four other dudes -- more so than usual. There are two trash cans that are meant to go underneath the sinks in the bathroom and they have inexplicably disappeared. I shouldn't say inexplicably, because it's obviously someone who lives in the suite, but I don't know WHY they need two more trash cans, and if they do for some reason, buy some of your own and stop stealing the community trash cans we all use.

Yesterday, after the cleaning lady was here, the light in the toilet room (the toilet and shower are cordoned off from the sinks and have their own locking doors) started flickering and eventually died. Which means, unless you want to do your bid'ness Marine style and leave the door open, you're in the dark. PITCH BLACK dark. As if that weren't bad enough, I came back from class today and someone had clogged that mess! Not only that, but there was no note, no nothing. I just checked again, some 6 hours later, and it was still clogged. I'm beyond pissed!

Update: I just heard some flushing it. If there's shit floating all over the bathroom floor now I'm gonna die.

This is getting bad. I'm only updating with the Friday Five. I promise this will stop soon but I've been pretty busy.

1. If you accidentally bump into someone, do you say anything? Of course. I hate it more than anything when someone bumps me and doesn't say anything. ESPECIALLY those people in huge groups who take up the entire sidewalk. Jesus Christ.

2. When you get into a disagreement or fight, how often are you the first to apologize? Probably 50/50. I tend to feel guilty for letting go on too long but I'm also stubborn as shit.

3. What everyday actions do you feel should warrant an apology? Bumping into people. That's really the only thing I can think of off the top of my head.

4. Do you apologize for things that aren't your fault? Yeah, sometimes.

5. When was the last time you apologized to someone? Probably work on Wednesday. I'm always apologizing for SOME bullshit there.
As you may be able to tell, I'm JUST about fed up with work. On Wednesday everyone in that place was in my grill. The one dude Anthony who I thought was semi-normal had the nerve to give me grief because I left an Odwalla juice on a table for a hot second. I was done! They are always pissing and moaning about not having enough space/furniture--well then get some more whicha broke ass! I'm tired of this mess. I'm gonna start looking for a new job before the quarter is over so hopefully I can start once I get back from spring break. I'm about 90% sure I'm quitting my current job regardless. If that means going a quarter without a little extra cash, so be it. I can't take this shit anymore.

I got an A+ on my Com Lit midterm! I about passed out when she handed it back. I was winging that shit for sure but obviously I knew more than I realized. This news was dampened by the fact that I got a shitty ass grade on my Bioterrorism midterm, but oh well I can make it up. I also got a B+ on my midterm paper for my English class. So things are finally starting to look up for me in the school department.

I had FREE tickets to see Nas on Wednesday. I didn't go because every person I know at UCLA can fit into my pocket and none of them could/wanted to go and I was too lazy to take the bus alone. I hate my life.

I'm hoping I can go look at apartments tomorrow if my brother is willing to cart my ass around. Not having a car is SO not fun. LMAO!! I just cannot get past it.

ROFLCOPTER!!!!

I'm starting the Friday Five for lack of a better reason to post. These questions are kind of a boring wreck but I hope they get better.

1. If you were a crayon, which color would you want to be? One of those ones that kids got to name in the contest back in the '90s. Those ones always seemed more special.
2. Which color do you think you would be regardless of what you wanted? Something really boring like "tan".
3. Would you rather be used and get blunt, broken and lose your wrapper, or not be used and stay pristine? I guess used would make me more loved but as a kid the "blunt" crayons made me cringe. So somewhere between blunt and pristine.
4. Would you rather be in a small set of crayons or a large set? Small. The large ones had too many that looked alike.
5. Would you rather be Crayola, or a different brand? Crayola, the other brands were bootleg! You know there was always that kid in school who got clowned on the first day for having Walgreen's brand.

It's been a long week. I had a big paper due yesterday and a midterm today but luckily I think I actually did well. I MAY actually be getting decent grades this quarter guys! Oh, and on a broader note I've decided to major in English. Blah, blah, blah.

I'm going home for President's Day weekend. This month will be over in a flash and I'm hoping the rest of the quarter goes by quickly too so I can hand in my two weeks to my current job. $8.02/hour (yes, $8.02, not $8.00) is not worth this bullshit. Now I need to find something else.

I'm on the radio tomorrow night, 10 pm-midnight PST. Listen.
